Ελλάδα - Ιαπωνία: ο κοινός τόπος, το τοπίο της Βωλάξ

Abstract

Η εργασία αυτή επιχειρεί να τεκμηριώσει θεωρητικά σε ένα δοκίμιο απόψεις για το τοπίο, καθώς και να συμβάλλει στην καταγραφή της φυσικής και της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς της Ελλάδας. Η επιλογή της Ιαπωνίας και η σύγκριση του μακρινού αυτού τόπου με το τοπίο της Ελλάδας έχει σκοπό να ενισχύσει το επιχείρημα πως υπάρχουν ποιότητες και συναισθήματα που προξενούν τα τοπία, που γίνονται πανανθρώπινα αντιληπτά. Το ενδιαφέρον για το συγκεκριμένο θέμα ξεκίνησε από την Ιαπωνία και συγκεκριμένα επικεντρώθηκε στην πνευματική διάσταση που αποδίδουν οι Ιάπωνες στο τοπίο. Σταδιακά όμως, αναλύοντας γραπτά κείμενα Ελλήνων καλλιτεχνών και αρχιτεκτόνων, όπως ο Κόντογλου και ο Βασιλειάδης, αποκαλύφθηκαν πολλά κοινά στη ματιά των δύο λαών όσον αφορά στη σχέση τους με το τοπίο και σε ό,τι έχει να κάνει με το πνεύμα και την επίδραση του τόπου πάνω στον άνθρωπο. Έτσι, στο Α’ μέρος της εργασίας με τίτλο ῾Ελλάδα Ιαπωνία: ο κοινός τόπος῾, επιχειρώ να διερευνήσω τα φιλοσοφικά χαρακτηριστικά που διέπουν τα φυσικά τοπία. Τα κοινά αυτά χαρακτηριστικά διατυπώνονται σε τέσσερα Κεφάλαια: I Αιωνιότητα, II Διαδικασία, III Πνεύμα και IV Ταπεινότητα. Στο Β’ μέρος της εργασίας με τίτλο ῾Το τοπίο της Βωλάξ῾, επιχειρώ να ανακαλύψω τα φιλοσοφικά χαρακτηριστικά όπως διατυπώθηκαν θεωρητικά στο Α’ μέρος, in situ στο τοπίο της Βωλάξ Τήνου. Ουσιαστικό κομμάτι της διερεύνησής μου είναι η χαρτογράφηση των πετρωμάτων της Βωλάξ, ενός μοναδικού φαινομένου για τα ελληνικά δεδομένα και σπάνιου για τα παγκόσμια. Τέλος, πρόταση αυτής της μεταπτυχιακής εργασίας είναι η χάραξη ενός μονοπατιού που οδηγεί από τον οικισμό της Βωλάξ προς το «Βουνό», η οριοθέτηση ενός σημείου ως κεντρικού σημείου ενδιαφέροντος για τον προτεινόμενο Γεώτοπο, καθώς και η δημιουργία μιας βιωματικής εμπειρίας του τοπίου.

This Master thesis attempts to theoretically document in an essay views on landscape, as well as to contribute to the recording of the natural and cultural heritage of Greece. The choice of Japan and the comparison of this distant place with the landscape of Greece is intended to reinforce the argument that there are qualities and feelings that emerge from landscapes that are universally perceived. The topic of this Master thesis stemmed from a particular interest in Japan and specifically focused on the spiritual dimension that the Japanese attribute to landscape. However, as I gradually begun reading important Greek literary figures like Kontoglou and Vassiliadis, I realized that there is much in common in the relationship of the two people with landscape, specifically in what concerns the spirit and the influence of place on man. These common characteristics I concluded that they can only be philosophical and so I distilled them in four Chapters: I Eternity, II Process, III Spirit and IV Humility. Therefore, in Part I of my Thesis titled “Greece Japan: the common ground”, it is attempted to explore the philosophical features that characterize natural landscapes. In Part II of this thesis titled “The Landscape of Volax”, the philosophical characteristics described theoretically in Part I are identified in the landscape of Volax in the island of Tinos after in situ field investigation and research. The outcome of this investigation results in the mapping and documentation of the rock formations that characterize the Volax landscape, highlighting their rare and unique geological formation. Finally, the design proposal of this thesis is the demarcation of a trail leading from the village of Volax to the “Mountain”, the definition of a particular spot as a central space of interest for the proposed Geotope and the creation of a memorable experience of this landscape.
