Ο μύκητας Verticillium_dahliae είναι ένα από τα σημαντικότερα παθογόνα των καλλιεργούμενων
ετήσιων φυτών σε παγκόσμια κλίμακα. Το φυτό Eruca_sativa L. (κοιν. ρόκα) είναι πλούσιο σε
αντιοξειδωτικές ενώσεις που ενδεχομένως προστατεύουν τα φυτά εναντίον παθογόνων
μικροοργανισμών. Στη παρούσα μελέτη, αξιολογήσαμε τη φυτοπροστατευτική ικανότητα
εκχυλισμάτων ρόκας σε φυτά μελιτζάνας εναντίον του μύκητα V. dahliae. Διαπιστώθηκε ότι η
εφαρμογή εκχυλισμάτων ρόκας στο υπόστρωμα ανάπτυξης φυτών μελιτζάνας μείωσε σημαντικά την
ένταση της ασθένειας σε σχέση με το μάρτυρα. Στην περίπτωση όπου το υπόστρωμα ανάπτυξης των
φυτών είχε αποστειρωθεί η εφαρμογή του εκχυλίσματος ρόκας δεν είχε φυτοπροστατευτική δράση,
συνεπώς είναι πιθανό ότι η δράση του εκχυλίσματος ρόκας συνδέεται με το μικροβίωμα του
εδάφους. Η απομόνωση και προσδιορισμός μικροοργανισμών από τη ριζόσφαιρα φυτών που είχαν
αναπτυχθεί σε εδαφικό υπόστρωμα με εφαρμογή εκχυλίσματος ρόκας, αποκάλυψε την αύξηση της
συγκέντρωσης βακτηρίων του γένους Burkholderia που παρεμπόδισαν την ανάπτυξη του μύκητα V.
dahliae σε in vitro πειράματα. Επίσης, η μεταγραφομική ανάλυση γονιδίων άμυνας έδειξε ότι η
εφαρμογή εκχυλίσματος ρόκας σε μη-αποστειρωμένο εδαφικό υπόστρωμα οδηγεί σε υπερ-έκφραση
του γονιδίου PR1 κατά τη μόλυνση των φυτών με το μύκητα V. dahliae.
The fungus Verticillium_dahliae is one of the most important pathogens of cultivated annual plants on a global scale. The plant Eruca_sativa L. (common arugula) is rich in antioxidant compounds that possibly protect plants against pathogenic microorganisms. In the present study, we evaluated the phytoprotective capacity of arugula extracts on eggplant plants against the fungus V. dahliae. It was found that the application of arugula extracts to the growth medium of eggplant plants significantly reduced the intensity of the disease compared to the control. In the case where the plant growth
medium was sterilized, the application of the arugula extract had no phytoprotective effect, therefore it is possible that the effect of the arugula extract is related to the soil microbiome. Isolation and determination of microorganisms from the rhizosphere of plants grown in a soil substrate with the application of arugula extract, revealed an increase in the concentration of bacteria of the genus Burkholderia that inhibited the growth of the fungus V. dahliae in in vitro experiments. Also, transcriptomic analysis of defense genes showed that application of arugula extract to non-sterilized soil substrate leads to over-expression of the PR1 gene during plant infection with the fungus V. dahlia.
