Ανάπλαση του κοιμητηρίου Ταξιαρχών Ν. Ιωνίας Βόλου σε χώρο ιστορικής μνήμης και αναψυχής

Abstract

The present postgraduate study has as subject the designing proposal and reformation of the cemetery of Taxiarxon – N. Ionias of Volos in a space of historical memory and recreation. Aim of this research is the reformation of the cemetery with respect to its historical memory, as it constitutes a modern monument of cultural heritage. This place is ideal for restoration since it is inactive and it can be used as a reference point for many people. This study is divided into three parts. The first part contains information on the cemeteries both from the past and the present days and the benefits from them as cultural heritage are analyzed, through bibliographic examination. The cemeteries are categorized and the applicable legislation is presented. The second part contains the studies of cases including studies from America, Europe and Greece. In each case we present the different ways of restoration of the cemeteries. In the third part, the applied part of this study is explained which contains the existing situation of the cemetery, the natural characteristics of the region (flora and phona, climatic conditions), the designing proposal as well as the aim and the object of planning and the effects we expect . Finally we present the conclusions which are important for the restoration of the cemetery in a place of historical memory and recreation.
